Anyway, welcome to my blog, I am Murasaki Rose aka: Jeanne, and the picture to the right is obviously an anime version of myself, drawn by yours truly.
Here you'll find the random ramblings and insights of a slightly obsessive Yu-Gi-Oh/DBZ fangirl.

I just realized . . .
A comedian I was watching started talking about racial profiling and it sparked a memory. Or rather a string of them.
On multiple occasions, managers and other senior associates tried to get me to follow customers due to race or dress. It never failed to piss me off either. Now I know what you're thinking, what if they really were shoplifters? Basically, unless they were a KNOWN shoplifter, I watched over every customer just the same. I would always keep an eye out for people acting a bit off, or those who hung around in large clusters. That and gut instincts tended to work a lot. Being friendly and generally wanting to help customers, I would wander the department, asking people if they needed help. This disuaded many potential shoplifters and made legitmate customer happy. My methods were effective and stopped hundreds of dollars of shoplifters, check fraud, and stolen credit cards.
Everyone was treated the same. White, black, hispanic, young, old, well-dressed or threadbare. It didn't matter to me. And I'll tell you something interesting. The people who attempted to steal the most, looked the least likely to do it.
I too have been followed in stores, all because of how I dress. My punk/goth/sk8ter mix tends to attract attention. I just roll my eyes, point the guy following us out to my sisters and continue shopping. If I'm having a particularly onry day, I'll wave at them so they know they're doing a lousy job of being inconspicuous.
